03/09/2009 - Chocolate workers to strike? PDF Print E-mail

Workers at Cadbury are considering industrial action.  1,200  workers may be involved in strikes at the chocolate-maker. Plants at Bourneville, Chirk, Marlbrook and Somerdale could be involved. The row has been caused by Bosses breaking a pay-deal.Cadbury pledged to give workers a pay rise of 0.5% above inflation this year with a minimum 2%.

But, with inflation at zero in February, the firm imposed a 0.5% rise reneging on the 2% minimum promised. Supplies of Crunchie, Dairy Milk and Wispa will be affected in the event of strike action.
